John and Edward Wham X Factor

John and Edward Grimes
John and Edward are all set to wham it up on this week’s X Factor. Jedward have been rehearsing I’m Your Man and Wham Rap for this week’s X Factor show. Which one will they be performing on Saturday? Perhaps both … Bring on the Jedward Wham Rap! The X Factor theme for the week had been changed several times before Simon Cowell finally settled on a Wham / George Michael combo and the remaining performers were given their songs for the week. John and Edward as always just got on with whatever they were given, although rumours abound that Danyl Johnson threw a massive hissy fit over his song choice – ‘Praying For Time’ and is now singing ‘Careless Whisper’.
John and Edward are still attracting all the X Factor controversy in the papers after it was reported that technicians working on the show were told to adjust the sound levels on Jedward’s microphones during their performances. A source said “John and Edward have had backing vocals on all their live performances so far. We are used to tweaking levels, it is part of the job” before going on to say “the only time the sound levels on the mics were lifted was when they were rapping.” An X Factor spokesperson responded “All the contestants sing live on Saturday night and are given an equal amount of technical support.”
Considering the amount of choreographed dancing that John and Edward have to do compared with the other performers I’m not surprised if they have a little help from a backing track, you can still hear Jedward singing and rapping above it. As anyone will tell you at a live concert by Britney, Kylie, Madonna, Girls Aloud – basically anyone with big dance routines, there is a certain amount of backing track support and the performer will sing live over the top. This allows them to catch their breath here and there during the song. How much technical support was Cheryl Cole given during her live performance, which saw her hit the number one spot in the charts.
No doubt all the people who want John and Edward out of the show will see it as another reason why Jedward have to leave. The effort and energy that John and Edward put into their live routines will not go unrewarded however, and another close week of voting is expected.
Earlier this week John and Edward dubbed Jedward by their many fans managed to fit in a visit back to Ireland. The X Factor duo flew from London to Dublin for a tour of their old school, the Institute of Education. According to The Mirror the Westlife boys who were on the same flight asked for their autographs. The boys were delighted to be going back ‘home’ for a mini break, they have been under constant pressure ever since their first X Factor audition was aired some two months ago.
As John and Edward put the finish touches to their Wham combo for this week’s show Mariah Carey and Susan Boyle are preparing their performances for Sunday night’s results show. An unlike duo perhaps and to complete surely the most bizarre threesome in X Factor history George Michael may make a surprise guest appearance himself. Good luck John and Edward, hope you make this weekend’s X Factor, Jedward Wham Week !
