John and Edward karaoke, singing on holiday

My girlfriend and I met John and Edward singing karaoke in July 2009 in Vilamoura where we had been to celebrate my birthday. The X Factor’s Jedward were in the same bar as us and enjoying a karaoke sing-a-long with a group of admiring girls. Luckily my girlfriend had her flip video camera on her and for whatever reason, (remember this was before John and Edward were famous) she made this video clip of the X Factor stars. The girls in the bar certainly seemed to enjoy their performance as you can see and hear. Maybe that’s why this years’ most talked about X Factor contestants are still in the competition at the moment after gaining enough votes each week to counfound all their critics. Then again maybe its their all action, song and dance routines that they are made to perform each week.

Jedward singing karaoke. That’s what they do every week some would say, but we are certainly fans of the dublin duo and hope they go all the way to the final. Out of all this years’ X Factor contestants their’s is the one performance each week that we don’t want to miss.

After their double act in the bar, we spent a couple of minutes talking to them, (hey it’s not everyday you see high haired twins singing karaoke), and they both seemed like really nice guys, and not the cocky and arrogant pair that Simon or Cheryl would have you believe. The boys just want to sing, enjoy themselves and have lots of female fans. Considering the voting results so far and all the newspaper hype surrounding John and Edward I would conclude that they are certainly on their way to achieving this last goal.

If you listen to the video you’ll hear that John and Edward or Jedward as they are now known are singing the same Backstreet Boys song that they performed at their first audition and the one that got them through to boot camp. So karaoke singers or not ? This video clip was taken on the fourth of July, well before the X Factor live show had begun, do you think Jedward have improved or will they always remain a novelty karaoke act, more famous for their hair styles than their voices.
